Concept clarification, mapping or understanding a subject area, new product development…
wikilabs leverage wiki technology and the ‘wisdom-of-crowds’ to explore concepts from the collective perspective of your target participants. They can be used to map, investigate, and clarify, various concepts, including new product ideas, consumer activities, or a particular subject area. In a wikilab project a group of 5 to 150 participants or employees ‘wikollaborate’ on the creation of a secure, website document based on the concept-to-be-understood. A wikilab, typically, involves 50-150 participants, and can take anywhere between a week to several months, depending on the research objectives. Participation is asynchronous, and does not depend on a fixed location or significant time commitment, so the technique is well suited for engaging difficult-to-reach, or geographically / globally distributed groups. wikilabs are usually used in conjunction with an e-forum (online bulletin board / asynchronous online focus group), e-workshop (online bulletin boards + online focus groups), e-council (online consumer council) or e-community (online community), rather than as a standalone technique.
In a wikilab your concept, initially a blank slate, evolves over the course of the project, as participants create new document web-pages, and add to, or modify, each others’ entries, and upload relevant media and content. Easy link creation promotes meaningful associations between different contributions, providing you with an insightful, collective, representation of your concept, and an effortless way for you and your participants to browser and search through information related to it.
You and your team can log-into, observe, or participate, in the evolution of your wikilab from any computer. Our moderators will monitor document activity, send you frequent updates on proceedings over the course of the project, and will deliver content and summary upon its conclusion.
